Pakistan National Joint Registry

Introduction:

Pakistan National Joint Registry (PNJR) is a voluntary project of Pakistan Arthroplasty Society (PAS). The registry was conceived, designed, implemented and funded by PAS. PNJR is designed to contribute to quality care and safety of patients undergoing arthroplasty surgery. Through this registry implant companies and hospitals shall be able to retrieve data for research to form guidelines on implant use based on national consensus.

Challenges faced in establishing a National Joint Registry:.

  1. Formation of steering committee and members of PNJR.
  2. Development of Data recording system.
    • Case Report Form (CRF).
    • Inform up form.
    • Follow up form.
  3. Compliance with Good Clinical Practice (ICH-GCP).
  4. Financial Challenge.
  5. Training of principal investigators and hospital staff and persuading them to fill CRF forms.
  6. Preparation of first annual report of PNJR.

Future Direction:

In the years to come our first and foremost task is to improve the quality of data we are currently getting with respect to completeness of CRFs. In the mean time we would like to keep expanding, involving more Pls and hospitals to start to contribute their data to the registry. We would like to come up with Asian data following arthroplasty where a lot of people insist on kneeling for social and religious activities. We will also be modifying our CRF to include PROM and quality of life indicators like patient satisfactory scores.

International Presentation of PNJR Annual report Gothenburg

It was presented in Gothenburg, Sweden in 4th International Congress of Arthroplasty Registries, May, 2015 by Prof. Shahid Noor. There were 186 participants from various nations. It was the only registry presentation from whole of South Asia.

The report encompasses introduction to PNJR and Data Analyses and Interpretation.

Presentation of 1st Annual report CPSP

Anuual report was also read in CPSP on Saturday 22nd August 2015. There were participants from all four provinces. They all were connected via video conference.
